Tanglewood 2001

MassCar went out to Tanglewood on Sunday, August 19, 2001.

The day was gorgeous and sunny, and 11 of us (Steve, Raine, Tony, Stu, Eric, Jim, Grace, Phil, Diane, Dave, and Susan) piled into a rented van and headed out west. Thanks once again to Steve for renting the van and driving us all out there.

The gates opened shortly after we arrived and we made a bee line for "the tree" (a great big tree in direct line of center stage and offering lots of much needed shade on a hot August day), trying hard not to let our wagon piled high with coolers, blankets, tables, and more to tip over. There, we met up with Tony's wife Julie (so nice of you to be able to join us this year, though we miss hearing you sing) along with Terry, Diane, and Brian Rumery, and Matthew Wells & company. Soon we had set up camp, and our tables were complete with tablecloths, candles, and more food than even this crowd could eat!

With Jim and Grace's roasted turkey and stuffing; Tony's prosciutto, bread, exotic cheeses, and cucumber salad; Eric's shrimp; Stu's tuna salad, fruit, and garlic cheese spread; and Steve and Raine's fruit salad and cheeses, soon we were all stuffed to the gills and lazing in the sun sipping on wine or Steve and Raine's famous "Blue Thing" (hey, you have to go to know). "Is Jim really passing around a plate of brownies? You've got to be kidding. Well...okay...maybe just one..."

And, yes, some of us may have even napped a bit during the performance. It was a wonderful day, and we're hoping that next year we need to rent a train instead of just a bus to get all MassCar members out there.

We'll post some pics as soon as we can find them, but to hold you over, here are some pics from last year's trip.
