MassCar Joins The Cub Scouts

By Kasz (excerpted from MassCar's December newsletter)

I have been involved with the CubScouts for about seven years now, five years as an assistant troop leader of Cub Scout Pack 61 of Wrentham and the past two years as the parent of a Boy Scout. I had always wanted to do something to involve the boys with the model club but had never been able to set up any viable event. A couple of months ago I was approached by the new Cub Master about using my connection with the club to setup a model show for the boys.

At a monthly meeting I asked for some help in producing a model show, I was hoping to get about 3 or 4 people to show up. On November 16, we all met at the Delaney school in Wrentham and I was amazed when 9 people showed up with plenty of models in tow!!! There would have been 11 people but Norm and Lisa Jean got stuck at work and had to call me to say they may not make it (I appreciate it just the same Norm and Lisa). Doug (Bumpa) Estabrook brought his grandson and a bunch of his great looking Drag Racing models, Dave Smolski showed up with his award winning diorama and spent the night telling the Scouts all about it. Katie Boyd was there with a handful of Diecast models and Bill Doyle was there with some more award winning models. Stu Marcus brought a couple of his big rigs and Phil Labounty amazed everyone with his phenomenal figures. Jim Cunningham gave the group a touch of class with his classic cars. Tony Mazzola played host for the night and really impressed the group as they have already asked us to come back next year! Now check out some pictures from that night taken by Doug Estabrook. And thank you to all who helped make the entire evening a huge success!
